International Business Development Manager –

This Business Development Manager position is responsible for the generation of order bookings to meet budgets and the overall Aish growth strategy. The job holder will be the primary customer point of contact in the promotion and sales of Aish products within defined territories, developing sales opportunities from opportunity identification, opportunity qualification and Bid/No Bid through to Proposal Preparation and Bid Submission. They will also be responsible for following Bid Submission lead clarification and negotiation phases until contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prosecute identified addressable opportunities
  • Identify new addressable opportunities and progress through Aish Business Winning Framework
  • Strategic Capture Management
  • Generate Regional Development Plans in alignment with Aish growth strategy
  • Contribute to Aish strategy development and strategic decision making 

General Responsibilities:

  • Management of Salesforce data
  • Development and maintenance of Capture Plans
  • Assist / support Bid Managers with the generation of bids and proposals
  • Support generation and maintenance of Product Development Plans across Aish product lines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and customers to identify emerging trends
  • Undertake international travel and work outside of normal office hours as required and reasonably expected to meet customers’ expectations.
  • Production of visit / meeting reports
  • Support generation of business winning and revenue budgets and forecasts
  • Maintain familiarisation with the technical aspects of the Naval products to an appropriate level to support the defined duties and responsibilities
  • Lead Gate 0 (Pursue/No Pursue) Reviews
  • Lead / Support Gate 1 (Bid/No Bid) Reviews
  • Support Gate 2 (Bid Submission) Reviews
  • Support contract acceptance reviews (Gate 3)
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of relevant markets, competitors and customers through reading open-source information, intelligence feeds, reports and market research
  • Recommend, plan, manage and participate at relevant and effective exhibitions, trade shows and conferences. Provide feedback on any leads and recommendations for future events
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and market needs generating concepts to support and develop marketing strategies. Record, update and monitor customer and competitor information using various sources of data. 


Essential skills, experience and knowledge required:

  • Excellent understanding of global defence market place, preferably with naval defence experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in international business winning or 10 years in domestic business winning
  • Excellent understanding of anti-bribery and corruption policies and export governance
  • Understanding of commercial business principles, including but not limited to contractual terms & conditions and the associated risks & liabilities, costs and margins
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite in particular Excel and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of Salesforce preferable
  • Experience in Shipley business winning principles or equivalent
  • Degree qualified in relevant domain

This International Business Development role is based at our Poole HQ (Aish Technologies) but will also encompass our parent group AGI Holdings, a global provider of high-end naval defence and aerospace equipment. The role reports to the Managing Director of the Naval Business.
